Making the Cut25
(NEW YORK) Those questioning Southern Soho's (SoSoho's?) status as a retail Mecca owed themselves a drop-by at Thursday night's opening of the Cut25 boutique. Any retailer will tell you how well Yigal Azrouel's bridge line has been performing in the contemporary market; the wall-to-wall crush of its aficionados at the aforementioned bash was a testament to the fierceness of the following.
"It just feels good," shrugged the designer, greeting his design team and preparing for his upcoming RTW show. "Minimal, clean, elegant"...the designer's signatures. "And the price!"
Indeed. And the versatility! When Zelda Williams, in a floor-grazing printed jersey dress, left the bash for her next stop on the evening's agenda, she simply tucked the hem into the waistband, and voila—a new look was born. The crowd was just as eclectic: downtowny hipsters, uptowny Yigazrouelites, and plenty of representatives of The Industry. Hayley Bloomingdale, Valerie Boster, Eugenia Gonzalez, Karla Martinez, Kate Young...
Even Cena Jackson, the brand's PR director, took a respite from her maternity leave to toast the team with champagne. "I won't be at the show," she warned. "But how could I miss this?"
