Breakfast of Champions
(NEW YORK) What good is a fash-week breakfast without a bit of schmoozing? The winners of the 2010 Ecco Domani Fashion Foundation Awards officially collected their prizes over breakfast at Luxe Laboratory bright and early this morning. Prabal Gurung, Joseph Altuzarra of Altuzarra, Ross Menuez of Salvor Projects, and Phillipe Rollano and David Trujillo of The Blonds won in the women's category, while the men's prize went to Siki Im, former Vogue editor Irini Arakas of Prova took the accessories award for her jewelry and embellished scarves and John Patrick of Organic won the project's first sustainable design award.
The winners were chosen entirely based on their designs without an interview process. “This isn’t Project Runway,” said jury member Sally Singer. “Personality is not a factor.” Therefore, many designers and jury members met face to face for the very first time. “I’m so excited to meet you," said Marylou Luther to the Blonds. "I’m a big fan!”
