Elle Names Replacement for Carol Smith
(NEW YORK) Elle’s June issue still lists Carol Smith at the tip-top of the masthead, but soon, her name will be replaced by that of Robin Domeniconi. (Smith departed Hachette nearly two months ago for the position of vice president and publishing director of the Bon Appetit and Gourmet brands, where many suspect she is being primed to take over as publisher of Vogue.) Today, Elle announced that Domeniconi has been named senior vice president and chief brand officer of the magazine---which should come as something of a change from her last gig as vice president of U.S. advertising sales, marketing, and publishing for Microsoft.
When Domeniconi takes her new position on July 5, she will be responsible for all aspects of the Elle Group, including content, advertising, digital platforms and brand development. In the coming weeks, she will also hire a vice president, brand publisher to share the duties. Anne Welch, who has acted as chief brand officer since Smith’s move to Condé Nast, has been named vice president, brand operations.
