Ghesquière, Superstar
(NEW YORK) The Fashion Group International will celebrate its Night of Stars on October 28, but one designer in particular will get the star treatment. Balenciaga’s Nicholas Ghesquière will take the evening’s Superstar award at the “Globalists”-themed event at Cipriani Wall Street. “Nicolas Ghesquière defines the word ‘superstar,’” said Margaret Hayes, president of the FGI. “Said to be one of the most intriguing and original designers of his generation, he has reinvented the House of Balenciaga and endowed its legacy with a cool, modern edge.” The 27th annual gala will be hosted again by Simon Doonan. Last year’s Superstar award went to Oscar de la Renta, while in 2008 Donatella Versace was honored.
