Spring 2012: Louis Vuitton
(PARIS) Louis Vuitton
Ring around the rosy! Kate Moss (sans ciggie) and 47 Vuitton dolls, modeling saccharine princess dresses, took a spin on a 48-horse carousel this morning under the watchful eye of Marc Jacobs and a bold-faced front row including Uma Thurman, Nicole Richie and Joel Madden, Olivia Wilde, Abbie Cornish, Poppy Delevigne, and Claire and Virginie Courtin-Clarins. There was no talk of a possible Dior transplant (that was strictly forbidden backstage), but a roundup of sugary-sweet confections kept us sufficiently occupied at 10 a.m. The colors mimicked the blossoming Tuileries garden (Jacobs' latest inspiration), first with white lace then with a sprinkling of pastel. Full tulip skirts and demure pencils upped the ladylike quotient alongside sparkly floral appliqué frocks and tweed suiting adorned with wisps of feathers. But, it was the accessories that stole the show, as always, with monogrammed umbrellas, twinkling tiaras, pointy-toe snakeskin heels, and charm bracelets. For the bags: crocodile satchels ruled beside transparent Vuitton monogrammed purses, ultra-femme weekenders, and basket-weave carryalls. Meanwhile, a smattering of lustworthy coats caught our eye. Take your pick from slim girly tweeds, delicate waist-cinching zippered motos, and croc princess toppers.
